About this program
While primarily focused on insulation and heating, the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme is expanding to cover rooftop solar installations through interest-free loans for up to 12 years. The programme helps make New Zealand homes warmer, drier, and more energy-efficient, and has been extended to June 2027.
Eligibility requirements
- Must own and occupy the home as a primary residence
- Must meet specified income thresholds
- Property must be built before 2008
- Solar component available through interest-free loans (up to 12 years)
- Grants available for insulation and heat pumps (not solar directly)
- Priority given to high-need geographic locations
